www.ncix.com In this episode of NCIX Tech Tips, Linus will be taking a first look at the “netbook upgrader”, the Acer Aspire Timeline Series notebook. The Aspire Timelines are so attractive both for it’s functionality and friendly pricing. It has loads of features that netbooks are missing and priced just above average netbooks.

If you have another computer home you can share the CD/DVD drive on your network by right clicking and goinh into proporties on your drive in My Computer. The go into Network in you laptop and find the location of the shared drive. You can also map it so it actualy shows as a drive in Computer.

I’ve been using my 4810T for about 2 months now and love it ! Very quiet, runs Youtube videos with ease and performs all tasks easily.

well netbooks arent powerhouse servers u know. so obviously if ur gonna like watch 25-30 utube vids at once its obviously gonna be on 100% load, choppy and heating up other than that this is the ideal thing for portable people that travel all the time and for ppl that laze on the sofa to play games and stuff. u can format anything without a disk drive or even an os for that matter just get an external(usb mostly) drive(if it duznt support u just have to configure it in the bios)

great little laptop…never gets hot like most other computer. Always runs very very cool, and runs youtube videos smooth on full screen in HD..
March 8th, 2010 at 6:36 pm
How do you format the OS if it has no optical drive? Also is the singlecore version quick enough for things like (MS Office/Firefox/Youtube…) or will things like streaming videos be choppy?

i heard it has some intel cooling system thing.

low grade korean parts make real notebook use unbearable

It is most definitely a recurring theme… I guess you just haven’t noticed until now.
March 18th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
I found it to be very quiet. I didn’t use it on a soft surface or anything though….
I also didn’t do anything TOO CPU intensive, so that may be a factor as well. If you’re encoding video on it or something, then it’s obviously going to get a little louder.

That should be a recurring theme, hidden messages from the cameraman!
March 24th, 2010 at 2:48 am
Get 64-bit, it is perfect for those specs.
March 27th, 2010 at 10:31 am
Cameraman is talking about the presenter, not the laptop :p

Hi, I’m want to get a high end laptop, and want to know if I’m making the right decisions in terms of what’s in it. It has 2 GTX 280m in SLI (I know, right?) and an Intel QX9300 2 Quad Core processor. I would also like Windows 7 Ultimate on it, but I don’t know which bit to get (32 or 64) to be able to play all games (I’m planning on this being a gaming desktop replacement.). I don’t know too much about bits, but with the processor and the OS, which bit should I get to play?
Thanks,
Jake

How heavy is this thing? Why does the image on the awesome TV say “Thin and White?” This thing is clearly some other colour
March 29th, 2010 at 12:47 am
Thx for the warning, I’ll look into that
March 30th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
Believe me, it is not quiet !
Sometimes the fan gets very noisy to cool down the system.
But indeed, it is light !

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. A light and quiet netbook with lots of battery time and an HDMI port. Would be a great accessory to bring to lectures.
